Garage Band

I found this tutorial on Garage Band, it is very resourceful.  Its easy to use once you get the hang of it but can be very difficult if you don't know what your doing!

Mom

mom

This is my mom, one of the most beautiful people to ever live on this earth.  As most of you know, she lost her battle with cancer on June 16, 2008, she was only 57 years old:(  This photo was taken at my sister Annie's wedding and such a tribute to my mom.  The photographer captured the way she always was, in awe of everything around her and loving life each day that it was here.  Cancer took her life way tooo soon, I pray they find a cure for this awful disease.  You can always help by donating to the American Cancer Society.

Environmental Portraits

Our next assignment for Photojournalism is to take an environmental portrait of someone.  This image should be taken in a place that the subject lives (work, rest or play) in and should tell us something about who they are.  I found this article on Digital Photography's School website and it has alot of helpful tips on taking an environmental portrait.

I saw a Werewolf with an umbrella in his hands...

On halloween night,  Josh and I joined our friends Brian and Sarah Steely and their little ones Dylan and Stella for some trick or treating.  Stella was Dorothy and Dylan was Thomas the Train.  Thanks to the Steely's for letting us join them.  Josh was a werewolf and had fun scaring some of the kids.  Check out the expression on their faces!

A Flattering Model Pose

I have been doing alot of research for my glamour/fashion/fantasy photo shoot in advanced portraiture.  To get the best shot I need to be able to tell my subject how to properly pose.  I found this video on how to pose your model for the most flattering photo.  This will come in handy for my assignment.

Fantasy/Fashion Photographer

I have been researching fashion and fantasy photographers for our assignment in advanced portraiture and came across David LaChapelle.  His images are very unique and original.  He has worked with many celebrities and was once called the fellini of photography.  Check out his website, his work is amazing.

Using gels in studio lighting

I found this video that has great tips on how to use gels in studio lighting.  We are going to be doing holiday portraits soon so we need to know how to properly light our background and our subjects.  Gels may be used to spice up the photo and give a different color to the background.

I got a Feature!!

Here is the feature that Ms. Finch picked for my assignment.  This is Barkley and his family at the Doguroo costume contest this past weekend in Atlantic Station .  He won the scariest dog costume, way to go Barkley and family!

Howl-o-Ween

Yar pirates!

Halloween Dog Costume Contest

This past weekend I went to the Doguroo festival in Central Park in Atlantic Station.  I got alot of good shots and hopefully a "feature" image, but also entered my dogs Marley and Bella in a costume contest. They were dressed as a pimp and a ho. We didn't win, but it was alot of fun and they did great walking the runway.

Low Key Picks

Mask

Lindsey
Here are two of the low key assignment photos that Mrs. Harkins picked.  I took the one of Amanda in the mask to test the lights and didn't think it would be one that was picked but Mrs. Harkins liked it alot.   The other photos if of my friend Lindsey who was my model for this shoot.  You never know what they are going to choose!

Fill Flash

For our next assignment in Photojournalism, we are going to be using our flash to fill the photo.  I found this article on Canon's website that has some great tips on how to use your fill flash effectively to get the correct exposure.
